10 Reasons That Make Art Bad
1) If it is not appealing to the eye. (not aesthetically pleasing)
If the artwork is not appealing to the eye then the artist has failed to capture the attention of the viewer resulting in a power opinion of the painting. 2) If it is not appealing to the heart or mind. A piece of art must be more than visually appealing. It must also have appeal to the heart and mind. When a painting does not have this type of appeal it does not hold any meaning to the viewer. 3) If the viewer cannot understand the meaning of it. If a meaning cannot be found in a piece of art it cannot make a lasting impression on the viewer. When a lasting impression is not made the artwork is forgotten and cannot be considered beautiful. 4) If proper techniques are not used in the creation of the art. Proper techniques must be used in the creation of the art so that the viewers may appreciate the talent required to produce the piece. When the talent is not appreciated the artwork is not appreciated. 5) If no value can be found in the work. Beauty can quite easily be considered another form of value. If a work cannot be valued it cannot be considered beautiful. 6) If the artwork does not meet the expectations of the viewer. The viewer has certain expectations when viewing a piece of art. They expect to have tothink, to wonder, to appreciate, and to ultimately be moved When these expectations are not met the viewer does not value the work can so it cannot be considered beautiful. 7) If the artwork is intended to manipulate the system for personal profit. This action goes against the very purpose of art. Art is about making a statement without regard for the effects of the statement on the artist’s reputation. When artwork is created only to gain a profit of some sort the artwork loses respect in the art community. 8) If the artwork is psychologically disturbing to the viewer. Beauty cannot be found in that which disturbs the mind. This should not be confused with a feeling of uneasiness which is acceptable. Psychological disturbances inhibit the communication of the painting. 9) If it does not add to the progression of art. Art is an ever-changing idea. If a piece of art does not contribute to the progression of art then it cannot be valued and so cannot be found beautiful. 10) If it was created with no purpose intended. Art that is created with no purpose can hardly even be considered art. When no purpose is intended then the piece of art cannot be properly evaluated by the viewer and severely reduces the viewers ability to find beauty in the work. | Assignment Links
